Support Disc Golf in Chicago
How we use donations
Disc Golf in Youth Camps
Disc Golf is a great recreational activity that is fun and encourages kids to be outside. HPDG provides baskets, discs, educational materials, and training, for organizations to bring disc golf to their youth programming. In 2022 we want to provide 6 different Chicago Park Field Houses with disc golf starter packs to utilize in the park and in their summer camps.
Jackson Park Disc Golf Course
We maintain an 18-hole disc golf course in Jackson Park that uses nonpermanent baskets in a collaboration with the Jackson Park Advisory Council and the Chicago Park District. The baskets were donated by the Paul McBeth Foundation, DiscMania, and local disc golfers. We host bi-monthly cleanups with Pitch in for the Parks and other community volunteer events to improve the course. Throughout the year HPDG hosts several tournaments that provide accessible PDGA-sanctioned disc golf in the city of Chicago
Baskets in Parks
Our first step in introducing disc golf to a park is with the placement of a temporary basket. We work with the park advisory council to identify an optimal location and, if approved, place and maintain the basket throughout the year. Each basket includes community discs and informational signage on getting started, our contact information, and disc golf games. More people are hearing about disc golf and the parks of Chicago are a perfect location for anyone to pick up a disc and make their first basket.
Community and Disc Golf Outreach
We partner with community events like the 4th on 53rd Parade and Picnic, UChicago Police Night Out in the Park, and Pumpkins in the Park by setting up temporary baskets and giving away discs. The great thing about disc golf is it only takes a few minutes to learn and offers a lifetime of challenge. People leave the event with everything they need to start playing and information on where and how to continue with disc golf.
Us In Action

PDGA Diversity and Outreach Grant
In 2021 Hyde Park Disc Golf received the Diversity and Outreach Grant from the Professional Disc Golf Association. This allowed us to provide equipment and training that started 4 youth programs focused on disc golf in the city of Chicago. The Nichols and Jackson Park Field Houses, Hyde Park Neighborhood Club, and ETA Creative.

4th of July Parade and Picnic
As part of the 4th of July celebrations, we set up a 3-hole introductory course and give away free discs to families to use and take home. 2022 will be our second year working with the 4th on 53rd Parade and are excited to see the parade return! Check out the write-up from 2021 in the Chicago Tribune!
